 His primary research interests lie in the areas of multidimensional (nD) systems, repetitive processes, and convex optimization in robust control. His research interests include artificial neural networks, especially recurrent networks, neural modeling and identification of nonlinear dynamic systems, model-based fault diagnosis, fault-tolerant control systems, optimization techniques, and optimal experimental design. His current research interests include optimal experimental design in distributed parameter systems, distributed computing and optimization in sensor networks, machine learning and artificial intelligence in process and robot control. His major activities have been concentrated on measurement optimization for parameter estimation of systems modelled by partial differential equations. Other areas of expertise include optimal control, robotics, parallel computing and machine learning.

His primary research interests lie in the areas of multidimensional (nD) systems, repetitive processes, and convex optimization in robust control. In particular, he focuses on applying two‑dimensional and repetitive system frameworks to iterative learning control problems. His current research interests include design and control of soft robots, and data-driven control. His current research interests include iterative learning control, distributed parameter systems, system identification and system modelling.  His general research interests include iterative learning control, robust control and repetitive processes.
